Tire Services in Las Vegas, Henderson & Summerlin

Your tires are the only part of your vehicle that actually touches the road. Every time you accelerate, brake, or turn the steering wheel, you're relying on four relatively small contact patches to keep your vehicle under control. Because of that, few maintenance items have a greater impact on safety, ride quality, and handling than properly maintained tires.

One question I hear fairly often is, "How do I know when my tires need to be replaced?" While tread depth is certainly important, it isn't the only factor. Tire age, uneven wear, sidewall damage, punctures, and vibration can all indicate that a tire needs attention. A tire may still have usable tread but no longer be safe because of damage or deterioration.

I've also learned that tires often tell us a great deal about the condition of the rest of the vehicle. Uneven wear patterns can point to alignment problems, worn suspension components, incorrect tire pressure, or even neglected maintenance. That's one reason we inspect every tire instead of simply measuring the remaining tread.

When you bring your vehicle to Asian Imports for tire service, we begin by evaluating the overall condition of the tires. Depending on what we find, that may involve repairing a puncture, rotating the tires, checking air pressure, balancing the tires, or recommending replacement if they can no longer be safely repaired. We also inspect the surrounding suspension and steering components whenever the wear pattern suggests another problem may be developing.

One misconception I try to correct is that every flat tire needs to be replaced. Many punctures can be repaired safely if they're located in the proper area of the tread and the tire hasn't been driven while flat. On the other hand, some damage cannot be repaired safely, and no repair is worth compromising your family's safety. We always follow industry repair guidelines when making those recommendations.

Proper tire pressure is another area that's often overlooked. Underinflated tires can reduce fuel economy, accelerate wear, create excess heat that shortens tire life, and cause unwanted malfunction lights to illuminate. Overinflated tires can affect ride quality and reduce the tire's contact with the road. Keeping your tires properly inflated is one of the easiest things you can do to help them last longer.
