CVT Shudder, Overheating, or Slipping Many Altima, Rogue, and Sentra models use a continuously variable transmission. When the belt and pulleys wear or fluid degrades, you may feel a shudder on takeoff, delayed engagement, or rpm that climbs without matching road speed. Heat makes symptoms worse.
